A 20 year old Macedonian, Alexander took over from his father Philip II in atacking the Persian empire. He defeated Darius III in 332 and was hailed as Pharaoah, god's son, by the Egyptians. He founded Alexandria at the mouth of the Nile. He restored temples that had been destroyed by the Persians and rebuilt the temple of the holy of holies at Luxor. He is pertrayed worshipping Min on the temple walls at Alexandria. He moved on to Asia and took Babylon, Susa and Persepolis, but died of fever in Babylon in 323 BC. | Simple brother of Alexander. Had carving of sacred barque of Amun done on wall of central shrine at Karnak. Was murdered by his successor, Alexander III's posthumus son. | Son of Alexander III by his Persian wife Roxanne. He became Alexander IV but was also murdered by General of Europe Cassander in 311. Is still listed as king until 305 but the country was being run by Ptolemy I. |
